Open House

Open House at Gilbert was yet another success! On May 10th, students invited their families to their classrooms to celebrate their achievements. Parents were able to visit the Scholastic Book Fair, attend a parent education session with one of our kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Nguyen, and learn about healthy foods. Mr. Harrison was super proud of the students as he went from classroom to classroom.

Read With Me

Come on out to Bellis Park on Wednesdays at 1:00 until July 11th. There will be food, fun, and fantastic reading for everyone! There will be no "Read With Me" on the July 4th. Thank you to Mrs. Milch for organizing the events!

Read Across America

Gilbert students celebrated the love of reading during Read Across America Week! Events coordinated by Dr. Wilson and the RAA committee were enjoyed by all and included: Cookies, Bookies, and More; hosting guests who read for Read-In Day, College Dress Up Day, and a gigantic event on Friday. One OC and Teacher Creative Materials brought approximately 140 volunteers to read to students, give students backpacks filled with books, and begin several beautification projects around campus. The event was a success, and teachers and students all loved helping One OC celebrate their 60th anniversary.

Mrs. Jenifer Krowel - Teacher of the Year

Mrs. Krowel, a third grade teacher at Gilbert School, was not only selected as the Gilbert Teacher of the Year, she was chosen by her peers to represent the Buena Park School District. She has taught for over 20 years, and her dedication to her students, and their families, is admirable. Please congratulate her on this fantastic accomplishment!

Global Play Day!

Schools around the globe celebrated having children play. On February 7th, approximately 400,000 children from 58 nations were given the opportunity to rediscover play during Global Play Day. It is an event promoting the importance of unstructured play in schools.  Unstructured play helps children develop 21st century skills.  Let's remind children to play every day!

First Day of School
