I'm am so proud of the great work that our staff, students, and parents have been engaged in here at Gilbert Elementary. In 2018, we have received Gold level recognition for our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and Bronze level certification from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation for the great work that we have been doing in nutrition and physical education.
Through the support of our Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Miramontes, all of Gilbert’s classrooms have recently undergone amazing renovation and are now some of the most cutting-edge classrooms in the country. The rooms are attractive and engaging, with new technologies that will assist our incredible teaching staff to prepare students for college and career readiness in line with California’s Common Core Standards. If you haven't had a chance to visit the new classrooms yet, please schedule a meeting and I would be happy to show you around.
Our Grizzlies continue to learn and progress inside and outside of the classroom as they strive to reach their fullest potential. The students and teachers at Gilbert focus on academic, social, emotional and behavioral success at school. We encourage are families to take an active part in their child’s education. Children thrive when their families are engaged and active in their school learning and have a greater likelihood of reaching academic success. When students see their parents taking a daily interest in their learning activities, such as listening to them read and asking questions about their time at school, they learn from their family that school is so important. There are many ways that parents can get involved through volunteering in the classroom or through our Parent-Teacher Organization, or perhaps you would like to consider being a leader in our School Site Council or English Language Advisory Committee.
We are excited for another amazing year here at Gilbert! Both my teachers and I are always open to questions and feedback, so please drop by anytime to schedule an appointment to speak with us further about how we can support your child to their fullest potential.
